Diving Competition Sunday, 11 November 2012

I took part in my first diving competition - North West Novice Championships 2012.  I got second place ie silver medal for my age group.  I think I did well as this was my first go at a diving competion.  I dived off the side of the pool and also from the 3 metre board.

AJIS Swimming Monday, 12 November 2012

Westholme School took part in the AJIS swimming on Monday and against stiff competition I finished 3rd in the 100 m Individual Medley.  My friend Emily Berry finished 3rd in the backstroke.  Some of the other schools taking part were Merchant Taylors, Queens of Chester, Kirkham Grammar.

Fleetwood Triathlon

I took part in Fleetwood Triathlon on 23 September 2012.  Wow it was hard work.  We swam 200 m first in the pool and then had to run to our bikes and get shoes and shorts on and pedal like mad for the cycle race.  It was freezing, but soon warmed up cycling.  Once we returned the bikes had to go on the bike rack and I had to run.  I did finish the course and got a medal for finishing, but it was really hard going and I had a stitch for some of it.

Friendly League Gala - Todmorden

We had a friendly league gala against Todmorden on Friday, 21 September.  Of course Pioneer 79 won and I won my race which was the butterfly.  Yay.

Diving with Bury Dragons Diving Club

I've just started diving with Bury Dragons Diving Club.  Certainly different from swimming.  Not brave enough to go off the 3 m board as yet.  Done some diving backwards off the side of the pool, but still not brave enough either to go off the board backwards. Today was my first proper go with the club.  See how I go.

Pioneer 79 vs Accrington Swimming Club

We swam two friendly's against Accrington Swimming Club.  One as a home match on 15 June 2012 and one as an away match on 2 July 2012.  Pioneer won both competitions and I can second in my races.

Preston Swimming Gala

Took part in Preston Swimming Gala at Darwen Leisure Centre on 16th/17th June 2012.  Closest one to home yet!  I got my first disqualification as I went before the buzzer.  It made the crowd all go ooooohhhhh when I dived in too early!  Live to swim another day.  We have some pictures from this event which will be posted soon.

Blackpool Rocks Swimming Gala

We attended Blackpool Rocks at the end of May - 26th and 27th.  It wasn't a very good meet for me as just as I was about to start the 200 m butterfly someone collapsed on poolside right next to me.  After that I couldn't do the race.  I raced in the afternoon, but wasn't up to my usual standard.  I did manage to gain a personal best in backstroke on the Sunday though.

I went to the Satellites Meet at Macclesfield this weekend - 28th and 29th April 2012.  I swam the 50 m backstroke, 200 m backstroke and 200 m butterfly.  I improved on my personal best on the 200 m backstroke and 200 m butterfly, but didn't improve on my personal best for the 50 m backstroke.  I am quite pleased with myself though as managed a silver medal for the 200 m butterfly.

We swam against Horwich and Warrington again last night - 23 April - at Horwich Sports Centre.  Pioneer 79 came second and Warrington won again :-(

I came third in my race against stiff competition.  Think I did quite well though.

Blackburn with Darwen Primary Schools Swimming Competition 2012

In the Blackburn with Darwen Primary Schools competition I came 4th in the individual medley competition against strong opponents who also swim for Blackburn Centurions.   However, in the team medley events we got 3 golds for freestyle medley, medley and cannon.  We were all Y5 swimmers against Y6 swimmers as Westholme Y6 pupils were at PGL!

Colne friendly league gala - Pioneer came second with 57 points and Colne had 59.  We had some good young swimmers in our team, but just couldn't quite make it against Colne on this occasion.

Swimming in the Blackburn with Darwen Primary Schools competition tomorrow Friday, 23 March.  Should have been Year 6 pupils but they are at PGL so Year 5 are representing Westholme School.  Event is at Darwen Leisure Centre at 6.00 pm, tickets only.

Swimming in the friendly league gala against Colne tonight for Pioneer 79.  Hope we all do well.

I don't think we've been placed at the English Schools Swimming Competition.  Was very stiff competition from Merchant Taylors and Queens Chester.  Never mind always next year!

I've also been picked to swim for Westholme School at the English Primary Schools swimming competition at Everton Park on Friday, 16 March 2012.  Busy week for swimming this week.  It starts at 6.00 pm.  Hope Westholme get placed.

The Lancashire County champs that I did at the weekend - I didn't come last in my heat, but came last out of all the 10 year old swimmers.  Never mind at least I achieved a level 1 gala!

I'm swimming in the school gala next Thursday, 15 March.  Its against Stoneyhurst St Mary's Hall and is the William Magowan Cup.  Hope we do well.

Big day tomorrow.  I'm swimming in the Lancashire County Water Polo and Swimming Association, British Gas Age Group and Swimming Championships 2012.  I qualified for the 200 m butterfly.  Going to be some stiff competition I think.  So long as I beat my personal best (PB).

I've bravely entered for a biathlon.  Never done one before.  Its on 11 March and will involve running and swimming.  I have to swim 50 m and run 1000 m.  Wonder if I'll be fast enough!

17 February was the Mini League Gala at Hyndburn Sports Centre.  Pioneer 79 came 2nd overall.  I did 50 metres butterfly and think I came 1st by a hairs breadth.  I then swam in 4 x 25 m medley.  I had to swim backstroke and finished level with the girl from Warrington.  Good night was had by all.  Tinged with a little sadness that Drew Taylor wasn't there to see us.

Ops musn't forget.  I got a bronze medal at the Association of Junior Independent Schools (AJIS) competition with Westholme School.  I got  my medal for the 100 Individual Medley.

I am going to swim in the Lancashire County Water Polo and Swimming Association British Gas Age Group and Swimming Championships 2012 on 4 March.  I will be competing in the 200 metre butterfly.  My current time for this is 3:35:64.  Can I better that!
